Founded in 1970, BWB is based in London, with clients across the UK and internationally. BWB’s alternative business structure means that in addition to legal services, BWB provide non-legal consultancy services in outcomes-based planning and strategy. BWB is proud to be the first UK law firm to become a B Corporation: a profit-making, purpose-driven organisation, which has gone through a rigorous, externally-audited assessment of its impact on the environment, the community and on its people.

BWB is ranked as a leading firm in the major legal directories, Chambers UK and Legal 500, across 22 practice areas, with a number of our senior fee earners being individually recognised.

The firm also possesses a strong international reach, with membership of several international groups underlining BWB’s ability to advise international clients of all sizes and needs. With strong and long-standing relationships with a number of multi-jurisdiction networks, BWB is well-placed to advise on all manner of international matters.

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK

BWB Compliance: The BWB Compliance team acts for a broad array of different clients, and advises on all aspects of FCA and European regulation which have an impact on the UK market.

Corporate & Commercial: The corporate/commercial department undertakes work for a wide range of businesses in the small to mid-cap market and has become increasingly involved in the technology sector.  The team has considerable expertise in M&A (acting for both public and private companies), management buyouts, joint ventures and corporate reorganisations and our corporate finance practice advises on private placing, IPOs (AIM and the Main Market of London Stock Exchange) and secondary fundraisings. The team also has extensive experience of advising on commercial contracts and partnership issues. Their Banking and Finance team regularly act for both lenders (leading and challenger banks) and corporate borrowers and provides specialist advice on social finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance and asset-based lending transactions.

Employment: The employment team advises both employers and employees on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law, including dismissals and redundancies, restrictive covenants, TUPE, service agreements and injunctions. The team has particular interest and expertise in all areas of discrimination. The team undertakes most representative work in-house, both in the Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal. It also offers a full range of employment training services, including mock tribunal training.

Immigration: The immigration department specialises in providing bespoke, personalised immigration advice to clients. The department is renowned for being able to untangle complex situations to find ways for its clients to meet the ever-changing requirements of the UK’s immigration laws. The team handles all aspects of immigration and nationality law, including work visas, sponsor licence applications, sole representative applications, highly-skilled migrant applications, the implications of Brexit, residency, asylum and human rights applications.

Litigation: The litigation department is broad-based, with particular specialisations in commercial litigation, real estate litigation, administrative law, civil liberty law, social work law, intellectual property law, insolvency and defamation. The media disputes team recently represented The Times in a ground-breaking Supreme Court appeal, in which the judge established a common law right to information from public authorities, where it is in the public interest for such information to be released.

Real Estate and Real Estate Disputes: The real estate team handles all types of commercial property work including acquisitions, disposals and landlord and tenant work with related specialist expertise in secured lending, planning and construction, and insolvency work, for a diverse range of businesses and individuals.  Their Real Estate Dispute team handles a wide range of real estate disputes including landlord and tenant matters, dilapidations, boundary disputes and restrictive covenants.
